PictureSpaniel, designed and hooked by Charlie Dalton.
  Pet Portraits!

Are you or is anyone you know owned by a beloved pet?  Or do you have a pet you’d like to commemorate?

Charlie Dalton, AKA "The Hooking Colonel," will be teaching a 2-session Pet Portrait workshop for us on ZOOM (something he has done frequently and with spectacular results, as you can see with one of his portraits here and another done by a recent participant at the bottom of this page).

Hold these dates:  June 19th from 1-3 or 4ish pm EDT, and July 10th, same time of day.
Total cost to you:  $50.
LIMITED TO 15 PARTICIPANTS.
You'd be working on a piece about 12x10", so it’s not a big commitment.  Details of how this works are below.

Charlie has done both dog and cat portraits. https://www.charliedaltonfiberart.com/home
Or check him out on Instagram:  @TheHookingColonel to see his work

HOW TO REGISTER:
1.  Email faye.lynda@gmail.com to let her know a check is coming so that she can hold your spot.
2.  Write your $50 check, made out to Charlie V. Dalton,
3.  Mail your check to:
Lynda Faye

Register asap in order to get preliminary instructions from Charlie about what makes a good photo to work from (yes you can use your smartphone) and whether your photo will work.  He has terrific easy tips.

NOTE:  You do not actually need to prepare anything to the June 19th first workshop session.  Charlie will do a demo/presentation on Zoom showing what makes a successful design, how he sets up the foundation and transfers the design, and then he will demo how he begins to hook a pet.  You watch, and then afterwards you gather your materials and begin hooking (again, AFTER this first workshop).  Three weeks later we hold the 2nd session in which we’d all be hooking and asking questions of Charlie and working out any issues we’re having.

Designs are small enough so that you can get a lot done between the first and second session, and he is great about answering questions.  You can use up your scraps on this!  He says, “Once you have seen the presentation you can make your own determination what you are going to use.”

If you would like to use a cut larger than #4, Charlie recommends making your design just a bit larger.  He will explain this in his first letter to each person who registers.

You do need to be familiar with/experienced at the basics of rug hooking to take this class.  It’s not a class for those in the, “I’ve never hooked before at all” category.

Again, please register early enough to be able to check with him about your project (by early June for the June 19th first session).  We can take only 15 to perhaps 20 participants at the maximum.

Once you are registered, you will receive a very complete email from Charlie with instructions on:  how to take a workable photo of your pet, some preliminary thoughts, and details about his demonstration at the June 19th workshop—also on how to begin to gather materials for after that first workshop so that you can get started on the project after June 19th and have a goodly amount done by the second session on July 10th.

This is the adorable Kylo, a portrait designed and hooked by Suzanne Flynt of Vermont during her workshop with Charlie.  (Portrait used with her permission).  It's small, around 8.5x11" and she has placed it in a light gray frame.  Suzanne took the workshop recently and highly recommends the experience.
